Why It’s Important to Replace or Clean Your AC Filter

Depending on the make and model of your air conditioning system, your filter should be replaced or cleaned every 30 to 90 days. During heavy usage in the summer months, it may need to be changed more frequently.

With regular use, an AC filter collects household debris, dust and dirt. This build-up slows down the flow of air and may transfer onto the evaporator coil; this hampers the system’s ability to effectively absorb heat and transfer out hot air. A clean AC filter can increase efficiency by 5% to 15%.

Right Now Heating and Air Conditioning offers a Filter Replacement Program that delivers new filters to your doorstep at either regular intervals, or on-demand. Sign up today and let us do the work.

Air Handler Repair Services

An air handler unit (AHU) is responsible for circulating and regulating the levels of cool air in your home. If you’ve noticed great temperature variances, such as one room being warm and muggy and another being ice-cold, your air handler may need repair.

The main components in an AHU are the blower (fan), cooling elements, filter racks, dampers and sound silencers. A few common problems we can help with include:

Blocked fan. Dirt, dust and debris (the 3 ‘D’s’) collect on the blower over time and create a blockage. The fan may still spin, but air may not be properly circulating.
Mold. Your sense of smell will usually be the first to tell you of a mold or mildew problem. When temperatures rise, condensation may form on the blower trapping moisture inside and creating an ideal situation for mold growth.
Leaking. Condensation from the blower drips and collects on the pan. Excessive moisture can cause algae to grow which clogs the drain. Eventually the pan will overflow and spill out, creating a leak.

If your air handler unit is more than 10 years old, it may be time to replace it. An older unit is more prone to leaks and electrical issues.
